Olive Super Power
10 November 2023
More than being the origin of olive oil, olives have the superpower of being a business driver within our economic ecosystem EVER. Respect for the environment, territory and people is based on the premise that what is waste for some is raw material capable of generating value for the market for us!
It all starts at Quinta ACUSHLA in Vila Flor, a property in the heart of Trás-Os-Montes with around 300 hectares and high potential for olive production. A territory that lost 50% of its inhabitants in the last decade and where we want to remain, because we believe that strengthening businesses in areas with low population density is a contribution to reducing the phenomena of interiority and desertification. On our farm we have vineyards, pomegranate trees, beekeeping and sheep farming that coexist with 14 hectares of century-old olive groves in production and 200 hectares of new olive groves, for a total of 70 thousand olive trees. Our olives are processed in a mill with FSSC 22000 certification (one of the most rigorous international standards in food safety), the olive grove's grass is made with native species, the water tanks are placed at altitude for gravity irrigation, the sheep allow the fertilization of the land, the apiary helps in the pollonization of various crops, the nests of predatory birds help in the prevention of pests and the pomace and olive leaves are used for value-added composting. And from here, we innovate…
From agriculture to industry... Our textile company TETRIBÉRICA uses the olive pomace from the Quinta, for natural dyeing for its BARRIO SANTO clothing brand. Furthermore, we extend our concern for the planet through the use of “Death Stock” and recycled cotton, reuse of defective parts and production leftovers, we have a waste separation system such as paper, plastic and mesh, photovoltaic solar panels and a commercial fleet of electric vehicles. And from here, we diversify…
From industry to commerce…. FÁBRICA DO AZEITE in Porto is a 100% organic products store where we combine our ACUSHLA products with products from various multi-brand segments, which share our philosophy. “I am because you are” and because we believe in cooperation, synergy and potential for joint action, at the service of a greater good! The store's furniture was designed through the recovery and reuse of old furniture, we developed bags and aprons from industrial leftovers, dyed clothing is sold on site and we have a mill working, so that the Quinta can “live” in the store environment, transposing the entire olive cycle, into direct contact with the consumer. And from here, we grew…
From commerce to tourism… On the Vila Flor farm we created an olive tourism project. Our guesthouse ACUSHLA DOURO managed by COZY INSIDE, was designed to live in harmony with the landscape, both physically and environmentally, using sustainable construction materials with low environmental impact such as cork. The location on the land was chosen to enhance solar exposure and facilitate a sustainable thermal balance. And from here, we protect…
Agriculture, Fashion, Commerce, Tourism, but also Environment, Humanity, Culture and Heritage, together in a philosophy of protecting Planet Earth... This is the superpower of olives and this should be the superpower of brands of the future. Those that, like ours, generate value… and love!
